14:00 jog/sprint work with light little hand weights.

TGU 5:00 with 1 pood. Kind of like the Controlled Fatigue concept.

Some abwork.

10:00 man-maker with 1 pood and some abwork.

Monday, July 21, 2008

I did some jog / sprint work for just a little over 16:00.

Then, I did two clean and press ladders up to three with the 1 pood.

Lastly, I did some ab work.

Saturday, July 19, 2008

5:00 TGU. I started with the 2 pood, but after just one repetition, I decided to go with the 1.5.

Then I did 5:00 of the following drill with the 1 pood:
Clean, squat and press. I did three reps one side, then switched.

Then I did some ab work.

Ab work is going to be a staple from here on out. I have a tournament I want to compete in October 25th and I think a strong ab wall is vitally important.

10:00 man maker with one pood today. That dang blister on my left ring finger had already torn off and now it's a real nuisance for just about anything, especially kb workouts.

Valuable Lesson

I learned a valuable lesson today: get the hell out of the way of a 88lbs. kettlebell. I tried to do my TGU drill with it today, just for kicks. I didn't get that far with it. Thankfully, I was able to push the bell away from me and move as it decided I wasn't strong enough for it.

So, I did the 2 pood KB for 7:00 of TGU.I then practiced some two arm windmills with the 2 pood on top and the 88lbs. KB on the bottom.I tried to clean and press the 2 pood, to no avail. So I did some presses with the 1.5 pood.

88 pound work today for 12:00 man-maker

I was able to mostly do 10 two-handed swings each time, but the last two sets were eight and five respectively.

I have a nasty blister on my ring finger, left hand and I think I'm going to puke. Tucson, AZ weather is really hot and humid and my garage is no different.

Uggghhh!!!

12:00 Man Maker

1.5 pood. Good workout.

Incorporated some running today.

I did two laps on the track, then I did three sprints of 100 yards. I wanted to do five, but I knew I didn't have it this time.

I then did 2:00 snatches with the 1 pood. Again, I wanted to go for 5:00 on this but I didn't have it this time either.

Next week, I think I'll up the ante a little on both exercises. The laps are just to warmp up the legs before I do the sprints.

Starting Warrior Diet Fat Loss Plan Today

I thought I was doing a Warrior Diet-esque thing lately, but I wasn't even close.

Starting today, I'm in my detoxifying week.

I'll let you know how it goes.

5:00 TGU and some other fun stuff

I did the TGU with 2 poods. That was tough.

I then took two light dumbbells and jogged around in circles in my garage, doing alternating presses with the dumbbells as I ran. I did this for three minutes. It wasn't easy.

This Man Is Inspirational

I will no longer make excuses for being fat, EVER!

12:00 man maker

I used the 1.5 pood. I had intended on going for 15:00, but I'm a little tired. This is my first full week of work back on midnights and sleep is a commodity right now.

12:00 Man-Maker

Used the 1 pood again. I'm going to switch one week with the 1 pood, the next week with the 1.5 pood. After the third week using a 1 pood, I'll use the 2 pood and go back to the 1 pood the next week after. I'm working on high numbers with whatever I use, but I have to get to the high numbers first.

Back from a very long vacation

I put on some pounds because when I go on vacation, I eat like crap. Now, I'm fatter than before.

Oh well, I guess I'll have more fun taking it all off.

Today's workout

12:00 man maker (Buy Pavel's book to find out what that is) with the 1.5 pood kettlebell. I worked with one-arm swings, and even though the numbers weren't through the roof, my heart rate was.

First Post

Before we begin with too much here, you must first know a little bit about myself.

I've been battling my weight for a while now; basically because I don't have a lot of discipline.

For example, I ate two brownies yesterday and a bunch of junk food this morning before going to sleep. I blame the junk food this morning to the fact that there isn't a damn thing to eat around the house as my wife doesn't do much shopping before going on vacation and we're going to Boston soon.

Anyway, I did at one time go from 240ish to 178 in about eight months. I fought in the 2005 Arizona Police Games in the boxing event.

Later, I ballooned right back up to 215, where I'm at right now, even though I've been working out very consistently and I practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

I've been working out with Kettlebells for about three years now and while the results have been great for my conditioning, my fat loss hasn't been there.

Well, a good friend of mine bought me Pavel's newest book about Kettlebells, titled Enter the Kettlebell and while I haven't lost a lot of weight yet, I feel a lot of the difference already. I wasn't doing high repetition cardio movements like the swing. Believe it or not, that movement is great for one's cardio.

So now, we're going to see where this takes me. I will probably not post video or photos up until I get back from Boston.
